In just a few months, thanks to UVMF, more than a thousand animals have been saved. To significantly increase this number, we’ve made a Christmas wish – to open charitable veterinary clinics in Ukraine. Everyone can become a wizard and help make this wish come true!
Remember Cosmos, the shepherd dog who narrowly survived a complex shrapnel wound after a Russian shelling, or Musya, the cat brought in with an open fracture from frontline positions on the Zaporizhzhia direction? Both four-legged friends are now healthy again and able to run, thanks to the medical assistance provided by UVMF. We allocate funds for urgent interventions, vaccinations, sterilizations, microchipping of animals, and to pay veterinary professionals. However, we cannot handle this on our own.
Charitable clinics are essential in Ukraine, where animals can be rescued quickly, efficiently, and free of charge, equipped with necessary tools and a supply of medications. Twelve years ago, Dr. Greg Wolfus established such a clinic in the United States. According to him, similar facilities are crucial in Ukraine.
“I think, given the recent destruction that has taken place in Ukraine, it is very important for us to have not only a place where people can get care for their animals but also a place where students and veterinary professionals can learn to care for these animals,” says Dr. Greg Wolfus.
He emphasizes that the most crucial aspect of a charitable clinic is to have a general practitioner, a clinician who provides all basic veterinary care. Specialized specialists can follow.
“These could be dermatologists, these could be surgeons, ultimately, these could be dentists, dentists – such people. I think, in terms of space, these charitable clinics really need to have three examination rooms to have a good patient flow. They need to have an operating room where procedures can be performed and enough space in the room for several people for training, as well as enough basic equipment to meet these basic needs.”
While we assist colleagues in saving animals on all fronts, from covering surgery costs to providing medications, we also fund the creation of stationary clinics in frontline regions, such as the one in Orlivka, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
Our current goal is to open 10 fully equipped charitable clinics to save animals. However, we need your help for this. We will be grateful for every penny, equipment, or medication! We will fight for every life!
